龙潭溪又称长坑溪，发源于安溪县长卿镇珊屏附近的同发山(海拔1504.8米)。流经长坑、尚卿、蓬莱，至金谷乡源口汇入西溪，全长55公里，流域面积416平方公里，河道比降为11.4‰，水流湍急，水力资源丰富，沿溪建有水电站多处。主要支流有后溪镇、玉美溪、青洋溪和新楼溪等。
